THE WELI HOME SHOPPER SHOW

Since 1995, veteran Radio/TV Host, Jim Masters has been Host/Producer and Marketing/Sales Director of the popular and long-running consumer-shopping program, “The WELI Home Shopper Show with Jim Masters” which airs every Saturday morning from 8am-10am and Sunday morning 8am-1pm on News/Talk 960 WELI. The live, call-in consumer shopping program features thousands of great items from local, regional and national businesses and offers discounted certificates from these businesses to “shoppers” who call and purchase the items. The show is fun, fast-paced, unpredictable and saves people lots of money! During the week Jim single-handedly seeks out and finds all of the clients featured on the broadcasts.  He exclusively selects the items to be spotlighted on the shows. Many people assume there is an army of salespeople out there finding the inventory. Not the case, Jim is on the road constantly meeting each and every business. However time consuming that might be, it’s what works.  Jim often says the On-Air Host has to know the product just like the hosts on the TV shopping channels. Sincerity and believability is of the utmost importance.  Items on “The WELI Home Shopper Show” range from elaborate overnight stay packages to restaurants, luxurious spa services, family attractions, car services, home improvement items and much more.

A native of Long Island, New York, Jim has worked in Connecticut and New York Television and Radio for over 20 years.  His career started in the mid 1980’s at New York independent television station WLNY-TV Long Island, New York.  There he served as Assistant TV Traffic Manager and Voice-Over Announcer.  He also co-hosted live telethons for the station and in the mid 1990’s served as Connecticut Bureau Chief and Reporter for the station’s award-winning 10pm news broadcast.  Jim also worked as On-Air Announcer for WLIX-AM Long Island, New York and as a freelance Co-Host/Fundraiser for Long Island Public Television station, WLIW-TV.

While in Connecticut, Jim has established name recognition through his extensive on-air work for various broadcast outlets in the state. In the early 1990’s Jim worked for WHPX-TV in New London, Connecticut. There he served as Traffic Manager, Station Announcer, Spokesperson, Sports Show Host and News Assistant for the station’s 10pm news broadcast.   Jim was a featured on-air talent on WTYD-FM and WNLC-AM New London, Connecticut where he served as Midday Announcer and News Anchor for “TIDE 101FM” and as Host/Executive Producer and Account Executive for the station’s highly successful six day a week shopping program “THE WNLC SHOPPING CENTER SHOW.”  

Jim is a recognizable face as an On-Camera Host/Spokesperson for Connecticut Public Television in Hartford. Since 1990, Jim has helped CPTV raise millions of dollars for PBS programming and has interviewed such celebrities as Patti Page, John Tesh, Master Gardener Jerry Baker, Frank Patterson, Nana Mouskouri, Chef Jacques Pepin, Ronan Tynan, John McDermott, The Celtic Tenors, Jim Brickman, Loretta Larouche, Eva Franchi and many other notables and celebrities. He also hosts CPTV’s famous Live TV Auctions. He has also appeared in numerous TV commercials, corporate videos and industrials as a Host/Spokesperson and Actor. He has also performed countless voice-overs.  Jim is also a “Celebrity Reporter” for “Close-Up On America’s Business” airing on PAX-TV in New York City and a production of Close-Up TV News.

Jim has also raised thousands of dollars for several non-profit charitable organizations such as: The Women’s Center of Southeastern Connecticut, Connecticut Food Share, The American Cancer Society, The Long Island Arthritis Foundation and Animal Haven. 

Jim was awarded the prestigious American Cancer Society Media Award for his work as Co-Producer and Host of the popular cable television public affairs show, “CANCER AWARENESS”, and also took Honors in the Sony Pictures/Game Show Network “National Search For A Game Show Host”. He is a graduate of Long Island University/C.W. Post College, Long Island New York and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications with specialization in Visual and Performing Arts.  He also attended the Connecticut School of Broadcasting, John Casablancas School of Modeling, New England Academy Of Theatre, The Art of Voice in New York City and Edge Studio Voice Design Group.
